Day to Observe Christmas Day and New Year’s Day

Carpenters                  Monday, without pay. If worked, double time pay.
Piledrivers                   Monday. If worked, double time pay.
Millwrights                  Sunday. If worked, double time pay.
Laborers                      Monday, without pay. If worked, double time pay.
Cement Masons          Monday, without pay. If worked, double time pay.
Brickmasons                Monday, without pay. To be paid straight time unless it is the federally observed paid holiday, then double time pay.
Ironworkers                 Monday. If worked, double time pay.
Operators                    Monday, without pay. If worked, double time pay.
Painters                       Monday, without pay. If worked, double time pay.
Plasterers                    Monday. If worked, double time pay.

As a note, Monday is the federally observed paid holiday for Christmas day and New Year’s day.

@ Negotiation Update from the south – CRCC and Residential Construction Employers’ Council

[The parties] have reached a one-year agreement. The wage rate was reduced by $2.00. $1.00 was transferred to the health/welfare fund and $1.00 transferred to the pension fund as well as transfers from the annuity contribution to the pension fund ($0.86) and apprenticeship fund ($0.04). There is a side letter agreement which provides for an increase in wages based upon certain criteria, with the U. S. Census Bureau as the exclusive benchmark.

There were several language changes made to the Bargaining Unit, Apprentices and Settlement of Disputes provisions in the agreement.

Please see this PDF notice from Terry Ullsperger at the Cement Masons Union as regards a $0.30 cent increase in the deduction for the Vacation Fund; please increase the deduction to $2.61 per hour, effective October 3, 2011.

To keep you informed and for contract purposes, the following are the federal designated holiday(s) for Christmas Day 2010 and New Year’s Day 2011:

“Federal law (5 U.S.C. 6103) establishes the following public holidays for Federal employees. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. For these employees, when a holiday falls on a nonworkday — Saturday or Sunday — the holiday usually is observed on Monday (if the holiday falls on Sunday) or Friday (if the holiday falls on Saturday).”

2010 Federal Holidays

Friday, December 24 Christmas Day

December 25, 2010 (the legal public holiday for Christmas Day), falls on a Saturday. For most Federal employees, Friday, December 24, will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. (See 5 U.S.C. 6103(b).)

2011 Federal Holidays

Friday, December 31, 2010 New Year’s Day

January 1, 2011 (the legal public holiday for New Year’s Day), falls on a Saturday. For most Federal employees, Friday, December 31, 2010, will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave purposes. (See 5 U.S.C. 6103(b).)
